The Back Porch

I love being outside especially this time of year!  I always daydream about my back porch.  I grew up always eating outside during the spring and summer on my parents' back porch.  I loved it.  It's something I know I definitely want in my next home or when I build a house.  Here are some lovely pictures from my inspiration folders.  (I apologize for the lack of sources.  I normally copy photos into my inspiration folder, but don't always remember where I've found them.)

Pottery Barn Love

I have a thing for Pottery Barn.  Majorly.  All the time.  But particularly during this time of year.  There's something about Thanksgiving that makes me fall more in love with that store!

I don't know if it's the way they tempt me with their lovely catalog cover decked all out in its finest holiday ware, or if it's my very deep (and not quite silent) desire to try my hand at baking my own turkey (we're a long way off from there), or if it's my love of that lovely mustard yellow color and the cookware adorned in it, or if it's quite simply my love of Thanksgiving and the enjoyment of waking up with a crispness in the air and drinking hot cocoa while watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and then enjoying some dressing (or stuffing for those of you not from SC) and spending time with family.  Whatever it is, I love it. 

While I was browsing on potterybarn.com, I came across these items (they're not all Thanksgiving-y) and thought I'd share.  And the first picture?  That's one of those "please-let-it-be-November-25-tomorrow."

     

      

 

A Great Weekend and Decorating Advice

I hope you all had a great weekend!  I did!

On Saturday, PC and I ran the Ray Tanner Home Run 5K.  It was fun!  After the run, we went to The Gourmet Shop for lunch and hung out in Columbia for a while before heading to Charleston for the rest of the weekend.

I'm back at work today and gearing up for a busy week ahead.

On to more pressing matters, I need to decorate my office, or rather, redecorate it.  When I first started my job almost 3! years ago, I thought I'd have time to decorate and make it "mine."  Needless to say, I was thrown into some big projects like creating a marketing campaign and materials on my first day, for instance, and I haven't taken the time to do anything since.  I have beautiful creamy white walls (sense the sarcasm) and a mahagony desk and a bookcase.  With the exception of a large picture hanging on one wall, a turquoise glass vase, and two boards with photos, quotes, and some other things, it's plain.  I work in a pretty conservative field, so I can't do anything crazy, but any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

It's Friday!

This week has just flown by!  Do you all have any big weekend plans? 

For the first time in a few months, I don't have anything major planned.  And guess what?  I'm actually looking forward to it as the next few weeks are going to be nothing short of extremely busy.  Tonight is Friday Night Date Night (and no, that's not an official name or anything).  I have no clue what we're doing, but it's sure to be fun.  Over the weekend I hope to get my spring/summer clothes switched over to fall/winter.  As I've said before, we haven't exactly gotten down to traditional "Fall" temperatures in South Carolina.  To me, this transistional-in-between-seasons dressing is quite difficult when it's too hot to wear fall clothes, but certainly too late to wear my summer staple, anything white or Lilly.  Anyway, back to the weekend.  Switching out clothes.  Do you do that?  I haven't ever really switched everything out, but this year, I think I'm going to give it a try.  I'll let you know how it goes. 

Tomorrow night is also the big South Carolia at Auburn game.  We're supposed to watch the game at my parents' and have a cookout with them and some family friends I haven't seen in forever.  I also want to do some Halloween decorating and make a wreath.  I love Halloween, and always have.  I'm not quite Martha Stewart yet, but hey, a girl can dream!  I'd like to try my hand at one of these:

Welcome, Fall!

Today is the first full day of Fall, and well, it's still in the high 90s in beautiful South Carolina.  Don't get me wrong, I love living in SC, but I sometimes wish we had four seasons.  I grew up here, so I'm definitely used to the temperature being in the 90s well into October, and I love being outside in the summertime with all the fun that entails, but sometimes, just sometimes, I wish we had leaves that changed colors and could actually order a J.Crew peacoat with thinsulate. But, alas, we can't, so instead, I'll share with you a few things that make me think of Fall.  (And remember, no matter where you are, you can always bring Fall inside!)
